To conclude our Pride Week each year, we celebrate inclusiveness, diversity and community in a dazzling afternoon parade. The City of OKC has recently confirmed this event to be the largest parade in the city. The 2014 parade featured as Grand Marshals Mary Bishop, Sharon Baldwin, Sue Barton and Gay Phillips, the plaintiffs in the ongoing Oklahoma Marriage Equality Lawsuit. The parade was full of energy, and drew a crowd of more than 32,000 attendees! We are so proud of the community that our parade represents, and we are excited to keep on bringing this top-notch event to the city!
2015 Grand Marshal
The OKC Pride Board of Directors is proud to name Mary Arbuckle the Grand Marshal of the 2015 OKC Pride Parade. Arbuckle has been a champion for those in need throughout Oklahoma City and surrounding communities for many years as the Executive Director of Other Options and the Other Options Food Pantry, a nonprofit organization founded to provide assistance to individuals living with HIV/AIDS. She follows in the footsteps of the organization’s founder and her mother, the late Cookie Arbuckle.
Mary is also active in the leadership of the Oklahoma Gay Rodeo Association and a key supporter of numerous other nonprofit organizations, including AIDS Arbuckle named Grand Marshal Walk, Food Bank of Oklahoma, AIDS Care Fund and OKC Pride.
No matter where there is a need in the community, Mary Arbuckle is there to pitch in and make sure the job gets done. When she is not leading the charge in the nonprofit community, she and her wife, Line Henneman, enjoy working and relaxing on the Mini-Ha-Ha Ranch.
We could not be more proud to honor and thank Mary for her years of service to the community, support for OKC Pride and thousands of individuals she has helped along the way. Please join OKC Pride in congratulating our 2015 OKC Pride Parade Grand Marshal, Mary Arbuckle!
